Gmail 'Undo Send' is Now Official: Here is How To Enable

'Undo Send' allows people using Gmail to cancel a sent mail if they have second thoughts immediately after sending. The feature is turned off by default for those not currently using the Labs version, and can be enabled from the General tab in Gmail settings.

Hitting the “Send” button in a hurry can be your worst nightmare. Inexplicably, the ability to recall an email you just sent is not a default function in Gmail! But it’s one of Gmail’s most important “Labs” and you have to enable it in Settings before you can use it:

1. Click on the Gear Icon (top right).

2. Click on the Gear Icon (top right) > Settings.

3. In Settings find Enable Undo Send Option Click in it choose your time frame, After you done choosing your time frame, Scroll down at the bottom and Click SAVE.

Users can choose to have a 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds cancellation window.

The "Undo Send" tool will apply to all Gmail web accounts and the Inbox by Gmail app.

After an email is sent, a message appears at the top of your inbox that gives you the option to "Undo".

If you undo the message - within the set time frame - it won't send and instead gives you the option to delete or edit it.

The "Undo Send" tool was originally made available after being launched as an experiment in Gmail Labs six years ago.

Reaction on social media has been broadly positive, although some called for more "undo" features.
